Handmade stabilized wood by Sara, a resident craftsman and apprentice here at Apogee Knife Gallery. Each block is handled with care and purpose throughout the process, ensuring quality work.

Stabilized wood is wood that has been vacuum impregnated with resin. The stabilization process highlights the natural Chatoyance, or "Cat's Eye", effect of the wood. This process also helps strengthen the wood making it more water and rot resistant as well as less prone to shrinking and swelling.

This makes stabwood a prime choice for knife handles. Every block, or set of book-matched scales, is unique in coloration, grain, figure, and chatoyance.
